Centering Prayer for Seekers with Lindsay Boyer at Copper Beech Institute, December 12 – 14, 2014

Lindsay-BoyerOur very own Lindsay Boyer, who facilitates the centering prayer group at Grace Church in Brooklyn Heights on Tuesday evenings, is leading a retreat at Copper Beech Institute in Hartford, Connecticut, the weekend of December 12 – 14 called “Centering Prayer for Seekers.” As you may also know, Lindsay is a spiritual director who specializes in working with those who are uncomfortable with institutional religion; she also facilitates workshops with David Frenette, including the event we co-hosted last year. Here are the details of her retreat; I know some of you will want to attend:

Centering prayer is a silent, wordless form of prayer based on teachings from the Christian tradition. In this retreat, those of all faiths are invited to explore this form of contemplative prayer. This silent retreat is designed to support newcomers to meditation and contemplative prayer, those who have practiced contemplative prayer in other faith traditions, and those who have an established centering prayer practice and would like to practice in an ecumenical community. This retreat will include instruction in the practice of Centering Prayer, regular periods of silent prayer, discernment work to help participants explore their evolving roles in spiritual community. View the Facebook page for Centering Prayer for seekers. Here is the registration link: https://www.copperbeechinstitute.org/centering-prayer.

Lindsay is a spiritual director who specializes in working with those who are uncomfortable with institutional religion, affiliated with more than one faith tradition or no faith tradition. She is a student of and co-teacher with centering prayer teacher David Frenette, author of The Path of Centering Prayer. An adjunct professor at General Theological Seminary, she has taught on seeker spirituality at Union Theological Seminary. View more information about Lindsay on her website lindsayboyer.com.
